Jungle Doctors UNFINISHED

When browsing through SoundCloud i typed into the search bar "unsigned British bands" and from this it came up with a selection of playlists. I clicked on the first playlist that was recommended and from this it came up with a wide selection of songs performed by British unsigned bands and artists. I went through several songs that appeared. However, one band that really stood out was an indie rock band called 'King No-One'. They had a song that really appealed to us called ' Vulpix'. I had sent them an email to receive approval for us to use their song 'Vulpix' for our music video and they responded very quickly saying that they would happily let us use it as it may promote their band. We decided that we very quickly rushed into choosing this one song as our final choice. Therefore, we decided to research further into the genre of indie rock/pop bands that were very familiar.

When we researched further we came across another band called 'Jungle Doctors' that had several songs that we particularly liked such as 'Boat Song' and 'Fugitives'. We favourited 'Fugitives' over 'Boat Song' however the more we listened to 'Boat Song' the more ideas we came up with. Suddenly, we came up with several ideas to film on British seasides and coasts as this strongly represents British indie/pop culture as coastal scenes are very typically British.

The song 'Boat Song' that we found originally has a music video of the band performing the song. However, we got their permission to create our own music video as long as we made sure that we made it clear on YouTube that it was a remake. The shots in the music video are clips of the band individually and altogether, giving the audience a feel of seeing the band live.

A music video I found that is similar to the ideas we have for our music video is a song called 'Isles' by Little Comets. The sound of the song is a very similar style to Jungle Doctors with a range of composed indie rock guitars and drums. The clips from the Little Comets music video are a montage of typical British scenes and people. This makes the song feel more British. Both this music video and our future music video will be a montage of scenes and people to represent Britain instead of having a storyline.

Another music video that I came across of a different genre consists of seaside footage throughout the video both on a rainy day and a sunny day. The video, however, tells a story. The story looks like the elderly man is visiting the beach in which he and his lover went to when they were young and happy. Momentarily, he is no longer with her but is still visiting the seaside. The rainy day at the seaside of the man by himself suggests that she may have passed away. This will differ from our music video as ours won't tell a story. Despite the fact our music video will be a montage, this 'Shiver' music video contains similar footage to what we want to include in our music video.

  1. Well done for uploading your email to the band and their reply.

You also need to upload your planning which I know was well on the way at the end of last term.

Also your analysis of Africa Shox needs to be posted under the label G324 Research into Music Videos. If you need some support with this please let me know.
